Gary Obermiller has been an assistant director at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources since 2016, overseeing the divisions of Forestry; Parks and Watercraft; and Wildlife, as well as the offices of Communications, General Services, Human Resources, Information Technology and Real Estate.

Obermiller has served in many roles at ODNR. He spent 25 years with Ohio State Parks and Natural Areas and Preserves. After being commissioned in 1987, he began his career with ODNR in Natural Areas and Preserves. He served as district preserve manager, north region preserve manager, law enforcement administrator as well as program administrator managing all field and central support operations. Gary also served as the chief of the ODNR Office of Law Enforcement, north region administrator for Ohio State Parks, chief of the Division of Watercraft, followed by chief of Ohio State Parks.
