Dog Parks
We know your pets are important family members so Ohio State Parks offers a variety of ways to take your pet with you, whether you're just spending the day hiking rugged trails, boating or fishing on our lakes, or camping under the stars.
Pets must be leashed when not in a designated dog park or dog swim area.
Fifteen state parks offer designated dog park areas complete with fenced-in enclosures and water sources. More than half of the dog parks also offer access to the park's lakefront so your dog can frolic or cool off in the lake.
Here's a few tips to help both you and your pet enjoy your park visit:
- All dogs must have updated rabies shot. Keep a copy of your pet’s vaccination records with you.
- Don’t forget—pets are not allowed in shower houses, comfort stations or camp stores, unless they are a service animal.
- Don’t wash your dog in water fountains, water pumps, shower houses, pools or public swim areas.
- We can’t say this enough: Please pick up after your dog and dispose of waste properly.
