Range Features
Rifle & Pistol
- 3 ranges all under shelter with handicap accessible walkways and shooting positions.
- 50 foot: 36 positions
- 25 yard: 24 positions
- 100 yard: 30 positions (closing April 10 for construction)
Shotgun
- Hand trap range for shotgun practice only.
- 5 stations, throwers provided. Shooters must bring their own targets.
Archery
- Olympic Archery Range & Pavilion: 10 lane, 90-meter outdoor range with observation pavilion for spectators.
- Static Archery Range with Platform: Targets at 10-50 yards with an elevated platform that is also ADA compliant. This allows everyone to shoot from an elevated position.
- Walk-through: 14 targets at 10-50 yards in wooded and open field locations.
Hours of Operation
- All ranges (rifle, pistol, shotgun, and archery) are open year-round, Wed- Sun. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Shooting ceases at 4:40 pm.
- Closed: New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
- Beginning April 10, there will be an adjustment to the range schedule due to construction. During this time, the range will be open Fri-Sun, 9 a.m.-5 p.m

Cost
- Archery range: free to the public.
- Rifle, pistol, and shotgun range: All persons age 18 and older shooting must purchase either an annual shooting range permit ($24), an annual permit and hunting license combo ($29.12), or a one-day shooting range permit ($5), which are available at all hunting and fishing license outlets, online, or the HuntFish OH mobile app. Permits are not sold at the shooting range.
- Shooters age 17 and under are not required to purchase a permit, but must be accompanied by and directly monitored by an adult (age 18 years or older) holding a valid shooting range permit.
Target Range Rules
BEFORE entering the range you must read and be familiar with all range rules.
Failure to follow range rules or unsafe behavior may result in shooters being ejected from range, forfeiture of permit, and subject to arrest.
- All shooters (18 and older) must present a range use permit to the range attendant and sign in before entering the range. Shooters 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult who holds a valid range use permit.
- Eye and hearing protection are strongly recommended.
- Limit of two shooters per shooting bench.
- Use single sheet paper targets only. Target holders are provided.
- All targets must be placed on provided target stands. Do not climb bullet stop to place targets.
- Use of tracer ammo or exploding targets is prohibited.
- Illegal firearms as defined by O.R.C. Section 2923.11 are prohibited.
- Shooting fully automatic firearms or using a device that simulates fully automatic firing is prohibited.
- Rapid fire/burst fire is prohibited. Firing from the hip is prohibited.
- During a cease fire, all firearms shall be unloaded, placed on a bench with actions open, and may not be handled. Do not go down range until all shooters are behind the yellow line and all shooters have acknowledged the cease fire by announcing “clear”.
- When going to and from targets, use the central pathway. Do not cross or go around cable.
- When returning to the bench, do not handle firearms until everyone is behind the yellow line and all shooters have acknowledged “ready on the line”.
- All target material must be removed from the range before you leave.
- Do not place unfired rounds in barrels.
- All shooters must sign out when they leave.

A = Supervised Rifle and Pistol Target Range
B = Unsupervised Rifle and Pistol Target Range
C = Unsupervised Clay Target Shotgun Range
D = Unsupervised Archery Target Range
O = Other Public Ranges; not classified by the Division of Wildlife

Class A, B, and C Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun Ranges
- All persons age 18 and older shooting on ODNR Division of Wildlife Class A, B, and C ranges must purchase a Shooting Range Permit which is available at all hunting & fishing license outlets. Permits are not sold at the shooting ranges. These permits partially offset the cost of operations, maintenance, trash removal, and improvements.
- Shooters age 17 and under are not required to purchase a permit, but must be accompanied by and directly monitored by an adult (age 18 years or older) holding a valid Shooting Range Permit.
- Legal targets on all shooting ranges are single sheet paper targets, or stationary reactive or self healing polymer targets only. Shooters must supply their own target holders, which must meet the approval of the shooting range attendant. Grand River and Spring Valley supply target holders. The shooting of fully automatic firearms, and rapid fire of semi-automatic firearms are strictly prohibited.

Annual Shooting Range Permit

Shooting Range Permit year begins March 1 and ends the last day of February. All costs include a $1.00 writing fee. All sales are final. No refunds are given.
Class D Archery Ranges
These Ranges are open free-of-charge. No permit is required to use these ranges, and no range attendant or restroom facilities are provided.
