Overview
159-acre Kendrick Woods State Nature Preserve is one of the best remaining mature woods in northwest Ohio with mature trees, spring wildflowers and vernal pools. Among the abundant spring wildflowers found in this mixed swamp woods are several species uncommon to Allen County including swamp saxifrage, Virginia bluebells, green dragon, fire pink and blue cohosh.
Near the southern end of Kendrick Woods, a flowing artesian sulphur spring is located along the south tail, adjacent to Six Mile Creek. Kendrick Woods State Nature Preserve is part of Kendrick Woods Park. The preserve and park are owned and managed by Johnny Appleseed Park District in Allen County.
