Lake Hope State Park Campground

Daytime Closure/Delays on SR 278 (2/16/23): Starting March 1, State Route 278 north of the park to State Route 56 will be closed daily from 7:30am to 3:30pm for the month as cleanup continues. For updates contact Vinton County ODOT Garage, (740) 568-4410. Dam Rehabilitation Continues: Dam and spillway repairs at Lake Hope continue. The lake water level will remain at 5 feet below normal pool until construction is complete. The lower dam parking lot and picnic area remain closed to visitors.

Campground

Lake Hope offers primarily non-electric sites in a scenic, shady wooded area.  Pets are permitted.

Cabins

Lake Hope State Park offers the widest variety of cabin options of any Ohio State Park. All cabins are smoke-free. There is no daily housekeeping.

Standard "Wildlife" Cabins: Each sleeps five and have heat and air-conditioning. All Standard Cabins have a screened porch, fully-equipped kitchen, furnished living room with cable TV, and bathroom with shower. Linens (bed, bath and kitchen), dishes and cookware are provided. A select few (#60-66) are pet-friendly. Pets are not permitted in or around the cabins that are not pet-friendly. Check details when making reservations.

There are two types of "legacy" cabins at Lake Hope -- "Iron Furnace" and "Forest" cabins. They can accommodate between 4- 8 guests. All legacy cabins have a fully-equipped kitchen, furnished living room, and bathroom with shower. Linens (bed, bath, and kitchen), dishes, and cookware are provided. All have heat, air-conditioning, wood-burning fireplaces, and cable TV. A select few (#15-21) are pet-friendly. Pets are not permitted in or around the cabins that are not pet-friendly. Cabins are located on two different areas of the lake; one group is on the peninsula where the restaurant is located; the others are across the lake. Check details when you make your reservations.

Cabin reservations may be made up to one year in advance. A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking; the balance is due 30 days prior to arrival.

Laurel Lodge

Laurel Lodge is great for reunions and other large gatherings as this fully-furnished rustic lodge can accommodate up to 24 guests. Amenities include 8 bedrooms (4 offer 1 queen bed each and 4 offer 1 queen bed and 2 twins each), 5 bathrooms, main living area with TV and dining area, and a commercial kitchen with all basic cooking equipment supplied. All linens provided. Other features include

  • stone woodburning fireplace inside
  • Large patio out front of the Lodge with picnic tables and large charcoal grill
  • Fire ring with octagonal frame and 5 bench swings surrounding the fire pit.

Other Camping Options

Backpacking campsites are available for backpackers and an equestrian camp is available for bridle trail users in surrounding Zaleski State Forest.
