Through a partnership with the Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has added a new Storybook Trail at Barkcamp State Park. The trail will create a new opportunity for children and their families to promote childhood literacy, develop a love of nature, and encourage healthy living.

Ohio’s wild turkey hunters have harvested 10,734 birds through Sunday, May 15, 2022. The total statewide harvest represents 23 days of hunting across most of the state, 16 days in the five northeastern counties (Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, and Trumbull), and includes the 1,103 wild turkeys taken during the youth season April 9-10.

Observers found 371 sandhill cranes in Ohio as part of the one-day April 2022 Midwest Crane Count, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The count was coordinated by the Division of Wildlife, International Crane Foundation, and Ohio Bird Conservation Initiative.
