Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve

This 573-acre reserve is one of Ohio's best remaining examples of natural estuary. The estuary serves as a field laboratory where scientists can study this naturally functioning system where land and Lake Erie join.  Large parking area, trails, birding checklist, and observation area. Alcohol, bicycles, and pets are prohibited.

PLEASE NOTE: While the Old Woman Creek visitor center will remain closed until further notice due to COVID-19 precautions, all trails remain open from sunrise until sunset. In-person educational programing will resume once the Visitor Center is open.

Permission to paddle the estuary can be obtained by submitting an Ohio State Nature Preserve Access Permit.

Online educational material is currently in development.
