Scudder Mackey

Scudder Mackey

As Chief of the Office of Coastal Management, Scudder Mackey oversees ODNR’s efforts to
protect and manage Ohio’s coastal resources by providing technical assistance and guidance to
coastal constituents, coordinating resource protection and management activities along Ohio’s
shoreline, and providing financial assistance to communities. Scudder holds a Ph.D. in
sedimentology from the State University of New York in Binghamton. Scudder first worked for
ODNR from 1992–2001 as supervisor of the Lake Erie Geology Group with the Ohio Geological
Survey before returning and assuming his current position in 2012. He has also worked as a
project implementation manager with the Great Lakes Protection Fund and holds adjunct and
Associate Research professorships in the Departments of Biological Sciences and Earth
Sciences at the University of Windsor, Canada.

A native of Binghamton, NY, Scudder enjoys boating, sailing, hiking, and vacationing in
Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in his free time.
