Free Deer Processing Workshop Offered at Spring Valley Wildlife Area

SPRING VALLEY, Ohio – Beginner hunters interested in learning how to field dress and butcher their own deer are encouraged to attend a free workshop provided by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife on Thursday, Dec. 16 from 6-9 p.m. Attendees should meet at the Spring Valley Wildlife Area Education Center, 3570 Houston Road, Waynesville, OH 45068.

The workshop is free of charge. Pre-registration is required, and no walk-ins will be permitted. Registration is open online at wildohio.gov. The deadline for registration is Wednesday, Dec. 15.

Trained professionals from the Division of Wildlife will cover topics including field dressing, skinning, and butchering deer. All equipment will be provided for this hands-on experience and participants are asked not to bring outside equipment. Most of the program will take place inside, with field dressing taking place outside, weather permitting. Please bring warm clothes.
