Boat Registration - Certified Application

Form DNR 8460R  for new registrations (traditional or alternative); renewing your boat in person; transferring ownership of a previously registered boat to the new owner (you);  changes to propulsion or corrections to boat information; or applying for a temporary registration so you can boat while a boat title is in process.

Section 3 of this form is used for proof of ownership for non-titled boats  mostly canoes and kayaks  when the boat is acquired in a casual sale or has no manufacturer statement of origin. Section 3 must be notorized if the form is being used in this way.

NOTE: If you bought a boat, you (the buyer) must fill out this form  whether there is time remaining on the registration or it is expired -- so that you (the buyer) can receive the renewal notice when the boat registration expires.  The seller must dispossess themselves from the boat by filing a Change of Ownership (DNR 8455).
